Number & Time: English Classroom Activity

Read numbers and times, then use them to explain a simple schedule. Includes a worked example and printable pair activity.

Suggested: A1–A2; adapt the difficulty to the learner • 15 minutes

Your learning goal

Read numbers and times, then use them to explain a simple schedule.

Understand the idea

Number & Time covers more than number recognition: it also practises clock time, weekdays, months, dates and schedules. Match the language to what the question is asking.

Time can be spoken in more than one way. Use a clear form your partner understands, and include morning or afternoon when it matters. Check whether a task uses a 12-hour or 24-hour clock.

Worked example

  1. A lesson starts at 9:30 a.m. You can say “nine thirty” or “half past nine”.
  2. If it ends at 10:00 a.m., it lasts thirty minutes. Use the start and end together to explain the schedule.

Try it step by step

  1. Open Number & Time and choose a suitable difficulty. Start with Easy if the skill is new.
  2. Play a short round. Discuss one choice before moving on; explain the meaning or rule rather than its screen position.
  3. Create a short schedule and answer your partner’s questions about it.
