Word Match: English Classroom Activity

Connect an English word to its Thai meaning, then recall it without the choices. Includes a worked example and printable pair activity.

Suggested: A1; adapt the difficulty to the learner • 10 minutes

Your learning goal

Connect an English word to its Thai meaning, then recall it without the choices.

Understand the idea

Match the word with a meaning rather than with a familiar-looking button. Thai can help establish meaning, but recalling the English word later is a separate skill.

Keep a short list of words you confuse. Say each word in a useful phrase and revisit the list after another activity. Use the paper task to check recall after the game.

Worked example

  1. “book” matches หนังสือ. “This is my book” adds a context.
  2. Cover “book”. When you see หนังสือ, can you retrieve the English word?

Try it step by step

  1. Open Word Match and choose a suitable difficulty. Start with Easy if the skill is new.
  2. Play a short round. Discuss one choice before moving on; explain the meaning or rule rather than its screen position.
  3. Close the choices and quiz your partner using three Thai clues.
